The figure comes single carded, but packed-in together with a cardboard backdrop which pays homage to Kenner's Early Bird Kit from 1977 and Kenner's second mail-away, the Star Wars Action Stand from 1978. Fellow Star Wars action figure collector Mark Schroeder found wave 2 of Hasbro's 6" 40th Anniversary Star Wars figures at his local Walmart in Washington State. The figures included in the second wave are the Jawa, Tusken Raider, Death Squad Commander, Chewbacca, Stormtrooper and C-3PO.
Here are some pictures from the 40th Anniversary Panel at Star Wars Celebration Orlando 2017. The people on stage included Warwick Davis, George Lucas, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Billy Dee Williams, Billy Lourd, Peter Mayhew, John Williams with the Orlando Symphony and Kathleen Kennedy.
The First Order Transmissions Podcast has revealed four new Hasbro 6" action figures on their Facebook page.
Those four figures will be part of the 40th Anniversary Collection this Spring/Summer. The figures revealed included Han Solo, R2-D2, Obi-Wan (Ben) Kenobi and Princess Leia. All four figures are re-releases of previous figures, but the packaging of course is where it's at in this case!
Gizmodo.com gives us our first look at up-coming Star Wars action figures by Hasbro for the 40th anniversary. The article states that Hasbro will be releasing figures based on the 40th annivesary throughout the year, not just during Spring and Summer.
Most surpring is that the 3.75" figures (which are made out of metal) will be released under the Black Series banner for $15 each, even though they are not poseable. They will be released together with a display stand which can hold a backdrop picture (each figure will come with two different backdrops, a movie scene and a character picture). The Black Series 6" figures will also get static versions along with a display stand which features sounds and light effects ($50 each).
