2004 Hasbro Original Trilogy Press Kit

2/6/2016

The word RARE is over-used when it comes to Star Wars action figures - but in the case of the Original Trilogy Collection Press Kit - it's not. Toy expert Bob Friedland - who at the time worked at marketing firm Bratskeir & Company - which was responsible for mailing the kits out said:

"The kit is very rare - only 500 kits were produced. Out of that about 75 were sent to media and 300 were pulped - leaving about 150 total in circulation in 2016."

Here is a look at the press kit and the full press release: Star Wars Original Trilogy Collection Press Kit

The line is titled "Metal Collection" and the figures are made out of metal bodies and plastic limbs. The figures typically have five points of articulation. The only way to get them in the past was through the secondary market, but now Disneystore.com is offering a limited selection of the figures in the United States.

The figures cost $12.95 each and they currently have 14 figures listed (the Japanese market has an estimated 30 currently).  You can take a look at them on the DisneyStore website.

What The Force Awakens Action Figures Hasbro Could Still Make

2/10/2016 The Force Awakens Hasbro

When I first saw The Force Awakens, I was struck by how little there was in the way of costume changes for the main characters. There also didn't seem to be many background characters. Whereas in A New Hope or Return of the Jedi, the camera lingers a bit more in the Cantina and Jabba's Palace, The Force Awakens seems to blur through its similar local, Maz's Castle. After I saw the movie twice, I started composing a list in my head of what figures Hasbro could make for the 3 3/4" line. At first I thought there were about 25-35 figures that could be made. With not all that many figures already released, and comparing this to the output we had with the last major film release, Revenge of the Sith, it seemed very small.

Today we have a special guest editorial by fellow collector and co-host of the Galaxy Of Toys podcast Ryan Beise:

Jabba's Palace - Vintage Vs. Modern - By Pablo Pulido

2/22/2016

Pablo Pulido re-created the Jabba's Palace scenes from Return Of The Jedi with Star Wars action figures. He did this in two different ways - first he re-created the scenes with vintage figures and then again by using the modern counterparts. We hope you enjoy the pictures as much as we do! Thanks Pablo Pulido for making these fantastic images available here on JediBusiness.com!

New Additions This Past Week

2/26/2016

This past week we've brought you a look at Captain Rex from Star Wars Rebels - Unkar Plutt - Finn (FN-2187) and the First Order Tie Fighter Elite pilot. We also added the Fan Club exclusive Rebel Fleet Trooper Builder Set 4-Pack from 2003 to the database.

A highlight here on JediBusiness.com was Pablo Pulido's Jabba's Palace photography. It took Pablo several hours to stage some of those pictures and we think they turned out great! Best of all - he re-created Jabba's Palace with vintage Star Wars figures and modern ones! Please have a look at the incredible work that he's done here: Pablo Pulido's Re-Creation Of Jabba's Palace With Star Wars Action Figures

Another highlight this past week was the reveal of Unkar Plutt's removable right forearm. Steve Evans - Design Director for Star Wars toys at Hasbro - pointed out to us that the design team intentionally added a removable arm to the figure because Chewie ripped it out of its socket during a scene in Maz Kanata's castle (a scene cut from the movie) - thanks to Steve Evans for pointing it out to J.B.!
