Toys'R'Us filed for bancruptcy a year ago and closed its doors in June of this year. About 31,000 people lost their jobs in the process. Now, according to a story published on CNN.com and various other news outlets this morning, it seems that Toys'R'Us will make a comeback under Geoffrey's Toy Box!
Toys "R" Us had planned to auction off the rights to its name and the Babies "R" Us brand. Bidders had already made offers for them, according to the filing. But the company's owners decided to cancel the auction. The company said it is considering "a new, operating Toys 'R' Us and Babies 'R' Us branding company," the filing said. The plan would "create new, domestic, retail operating businesses under the Toys "R" Us and Babies "R" Us names, as well as expand its international presence and further develop its private brands business."

Ellia Kassoff, founder at Strategic Marks, LLC, KB Toys and Leaf Brands, LLC, revealed that bringing KBToys back has been in the works for quite some time. Have a look at some excerpts below and make sure to read the entire announcement on LinkedIn.
"Wow! is all we can say after our first announcement here on Linked In that we're bringing back @kbtoysstore very soon. We're received so many calls, emails, and private messages of support as we try to #savethetoyindustry. Due to the overwhelming response, we can't commit to replying back immediately but we will get to all messages as fast as we can. Many of you asked what our plans will be and all we can say is we spent the last six months working on a sustainable model to bring back KB Toys the right way so it can compete with not only the big box stores but on-line as well."
"Our umbrella, Strategic Marks, LLC has been very successful bringing back many of the most popular products and companies over the last ten years because we follow a very strict formula; [To bring back the experiences we loved as a child, just as you remembered them]. With #kbtoys, we had to also look at why they initially failed and to make sure those mistakes won't be made again. Now, with the closing of @toysrus so quickly, it caught us by surprise so we've spent the last few days with our team and leaders in the toy industry to figure out how we can accelerate the project so our stores can open for the Christmas season. When we're ready, you will be very happy with the results and we believe our model can withstand both on-line as well as other large competitors for not only the short-term but long-term as well."

While on a Toy Run yesterday we took some pictures of a local Toys'R'Us store in the Seattle, WA area. There was a ton of old stock still sitting on the shelves, including the Force Awakens Millennium Falcon, Tie Fighters from The Force Awakens and TFA basic assortment figures. There were still lots of Black Series 6" Constable Zuvios, Finns, Guavian Enforcers, Jyn Ersos and Cassian Endors (Eadu) figures, but at least they were 40% off. The 40th Anniversary figures were nowhere to be found with the exception of the Legacy Vader pack. The AT-ACT vehicle from the Rogue One toy line was marked as "clearance", but still cost $249.99.
What do the shelves look like in your area?
