Robonino Review

This animated-style Robonino was released in an exclusive Target battle pack in The Clone Wars Collection in October 2010. The battle pack included Robonino, Shahan Alama and two different Commando Droids. Besides the figures, the set included a bonus DVD with a short Bounty Hunter feature, plus one die, battle cards and stands for each figure. Robonino was seen first in the episode "Hostage Crisis", from the first season of the Clone Wars TV show.

Robonino has a total of 8 joints, with the neck and shoulders being ball-jointed. The waist, both legs and ankles are swivel jointed. Luckily Hasbro included a stand with Robonino, because the figure by itself stands only very shaky. Hasbro included a blaster, a backpack with compartment, 4 explosives, a remote control and a removable belt with the Bounty Hunter. The blaster doesn't fit well into either of the figure's hands, because the hands are too big. If you want to display Robonino with a blaster in hand, you'll want to keep the little plastic band in place when you remove the figure from the packaging. The remote control for the explosives fits OK into the left hand, but keeps falling out of the right. The backpack plugs quite nicely into the back of the figure. The top of the backpack opens up, so some small accessories can be stored in it. The four explosives can be slid into the backpack where they stack on top of each other. The belt is molded individually and is removable. In order to get it off, both arms and the head need to be popped-off. Robonino's eye patch is not removable.

The paint job on Robonino is well done, with black, green, various brown, blue and purple colors. Aesthetically, the figure looks fantastic, and comes very close to what Robonino looked like in the Hostage Crisis episode. It appears that due to the petite nature of the figure (very thin arms and legs), Hasbro didn't have enough room to implement joints in them. While more joints don't make a figure necessarily better, it is annoying when a figure can't stand on its own or hold the included weapons properly. Overall, Robonino is a fun character and figure, which makes the Clone Wars animated line fun to collect. If you can look past some of the shortcomings, and are looking to add some variety to your Bounty Hunters, then this figure is for you!
